Ana Romero Ruiz named Student of the Month

Ana Romero Ruiz, daughter of Alonso Alcantar-Rios and Ana Ruiz-Hernandez was selected at SPHS Optimist October Student of the Month by Taya Greene and Veronica Gallas, both ELL staff at SPHS. They had this to say about Ana: This past summer Ana worked as a volunteer for summer school as an ELL teaching assistant and, also volunteered her time at our Afternoon Magic summer program. She was dependable, cheerful and willing to assist with any task. She was able to work with a diverse group of students grades K-5 independently.” They continued: Ana also participates in the HS mentor program and also volunteered to work at the MS helping ELL students during their classes for the past two years. As a Bridgez member (HS and MS) she works doing community service projects. She packs food during the holidays to help families in need, does community service at August Derleth Park every year, and does Valentine’s fundraising for school supplies for students. She is a great leader and role model for our younger Bridgez students. When you want a job done, you can count on Ana. She cares about others and shows empathy. Ana is a mature girl with high moral principles. She is respectful, kind, honest, funny and smart. Ana is fluent in both English and Spanish.
