A Dane County man charged with sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl is now out on bail and living with his father in a house on Center Street, across from Black Earth Elementary School. Curtis O’Brien, 25, allegedly assaulted the girl over the course of two years, starting in 2012. O’Brien first appeared in court in 2018.

O’Brien’s alleged assaults of the girl included touching, kissing, and oral and sexual intercourse without consent. It occurred at the girl’s house, as well as a family member’s house. O’Brien allegedly assaulted her while her parents were out of the room, as well privately in the bathroom.

O’Brien has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Bail was set at $500.

On February 26, 2020, O’Brien was found competent to stand trial. His release on bond requires him to stay in the house at all times and not drive. He cannot have any contact with minors, the victim or her family, and cannot enter a specific municipality in Dane County. No trial date has been set.
