Prairie du Sac’s Wildman visits Optimists


On March 30, Alan Wildman addressed the SP Optimist Club, giving them updates on happenings in Prairie du Sac, aas their administrator. First, he complimented the Club on their 61 years of “supporting youth, neighbors, community organizations and events through your service.” Notable completions in Prairie du Sac are the River Walk Park and Overlook. The second is waiting for the artists’ work to be installed. A Kids Concert is planned for May 7 there and this summer there will be Night Markets scheduled there as well. Prairie du Sac has a brand-new rescue vehicle and recently acquired an ATV to use with brush fires etc. He explained the lengthy local street improvement scheduled. These projects are financed locally with the Bank of Prairie du Sac. The new Police Station construction is clicking along. The new 24,455 square foot station will include offices, storage and processing space, a community/training room. and a 22-stall indoor parking/vehicle storage area. No overnight stays would be held there, though the facility would be open 24/7. The site would also include 38 exterior parking stalls with 9 of these in a fenced area south of the building intended for secured parking. Expected completion of the building in the summer of 2022. The Culver Community Park is being constructed on land owned by the Village that is also responsible for all improvements. The Village has an agreement with the Sauk Prairie Recreation Department who will pay for operation costs. The goal is to raise $12 million for the Park. Currently, the fundraising total is approximately $10.5 million. The goal is to develop the north part of the park, including the north building and the dog park in 2022. Big news in Prairie du Sac is a private development proposal for 51 residential rental units- efficiency/studio units one-bedroom units and 14 two-bedroom units with 1000 square feet of retail/commercial space and two levels of underground parking.
