The May Optimist Sauk Prairie High School Student of the Month is senior Rose Eilertson, the daughter of Tatianna and Ronaya Harris. Rose was nominated by her teacher Melissa Frey who shared, “I nominated Rose because she takes so much pride in turning in good work. She continues to go to all of her classes in spite of the academic challenges they present while participating in extracurricular activities. She is a good self-advocate and lends grace to teachers who aren’t able to help her immediately, problem solves well with adults, and is respectful to teachers. She always shows up ready to learn and gives her best every day.. Her positive attitude spreads to others and influences them for the better.” Shane Been, her SPHS Assistant Principal, agrees with Rose when she replied “Amazing, sweet, and kind.” when he asked her to give him three words to describe herself- She has been involved in Cheer Squad for all four years and with the YTBN all-female Show Choir for the past two winning an award this aat a competition. This summer she is going to be a counselor at the Green Lake Campground. In the fall, she will be attending Madison College and want to be a teacher for 4K and lower elementary grades.
