Hartwig picks Evansville

Sauk Prairie senior-to-be Maggie Hartwig has made a verbal commitment to play basketball at the University of Evansville. Hartwig had a sensational junior season in which she led Sauk Prairie in both scoring (11.5) and rebounding (9.2). Hartwig also saved her best for last, scoring a season-high 22 points against Oregon in the Vikings’ final regular season game of the year. Hartwig was named first-team all-Badger West Conference. “Maggie had a great season for us,” Eagles coach Jacob Breunig said. “She is such a high motor player who can dominate the glass for us. She came on as a scorer this year and we are excited to see her become a more consistent scorer next season. “She led us in free throw attempts and was hard for opponents to guard inside. She is a really good shooter who we will work on getting more shots next season. Other teams have to focus on her and key on stopping her each game.”
