Since September 1, the book ‘Solito, Solita’ has been available for free pick up at either Sauk Prairie Library. ‘Solito, Solita’ (Alone, Alone) is a collection of oral histories that tells—in their own words—the stories of young refugees fleeing countries in Central America and traveling for hundreds of miles to seek safety and protection in the United States. Three opportunities to discuss the book have been set for October. Prior to the discussion of the book, there will be a presentation by a person with personal experience as an immigrant to the US. Each session will feature a different presenter. After the speaker’s presentation, the group will be divided into small groups for discussion of the book. No registration is required. The dates are: · Tuesday, October 11 at 1 pm- George Culver Community Library- Sauk City · Monday October 17 at 10 am- Ruth Culver Community Library- Prairie du Sac · Thursday, October 20 at 6 pm- Ruth Culver Community Library- Prairie du Sac SPSJEI, Sauk Prairie Social Justice and Equity Initiative, invites the Sauk Prairie area community to these gatherings for learning, sharing and discussion.
