Twins end regular season with a win

The regular season went about as well as anyone could have imagined.
Now, Sauk Prairie’s Home Talent League team is hoping for similar success in the postseason.
The Twins defeated host Plain, 11-0, on Sunday in a game stopped after seven innings due to the mercy rule. Sauk Prairie finished the regular season 11-1, earned the No. 1 seed in the Northern Section and will host eighth-seeded Wisconsin Dells (4-8) Sunday at 1 p.m. in its playoff opener.
“We have a lot of baseball on our schedule the next couple weeks, highlighted by the Sunday League playoffs,” Sauk Prairie manager Lucas Koenig said. “We are seeing many players step up and look for that to continue during our playoff run.”
Ashton is the No. 2 seed, while Middleton, Cross Plains, Reedsburg, Waunakee and Mazomanie are seeded No. 3 through 7.
The Twins erupted for four runs in the third inning and seven in the fifth to run away from Plain (0-11). Sauk Prairie’s Adam Ballweg was the winning pitcher, allowing no runs or hits in five innings. Ballweg did walk six and struck out three.
Austin Pagel threw two innings of scoreless relief for the Twins. Pagel gave up two hits, striking out four and walking one.
Quinn Baier led Sauk Prairie’s offense, going 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI. Mike Jordahl had a home run, two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored.
Spencer Alisch also had two hits and scored two runs.
The Twins jumped to a 4-0 lead with a big third inning.
Baier had an RBI double that scored Chucky Schara, then Jordahl followed with a two-run home run. Alisch and Lucas Koenig had base hits and Alisch eventually scored on a balk.
Sauk Prairie then ran away and hid thanks to its seven-run fifth.
Alisch had an RBI single that scored Jordahl, then Ty Brisky had a run-scoring single that brought home Sam Koenig to make it 6-0. Alisch scored on an error, and Lucas Koenig scored after Ben Lenerz was hit by a pitch.
Schara reached on an error that scored Brisky, then Baier had a two-run single that plated both Elliot Dederich and Lenerz to make it 11-0.
Quincy Blakely took the loss for Plain after allowing four runs, five hits, striking out one and walking three in three innings.
