Tennis Eagles fall to Stoughton
Sauk Prairie’s girls tennis team fell to Stoughton, 5-2, on Aug. 27.
Leisl Judge notched a 6-4, 6-0 win over Stoughton’s Erin Hull at No. 4 singles.
“Liesl continues to log W’s on her record,” Eagles’ coach Heather Slosarek said. “She is so composed and steady on the court! Her mindset keeps her in every point, and her shot variety makes her a challenge for any opponent.”
And at No. 2 doubles, Sauk Prairie’s MariElla Viola and Kennedy Breunig defeated Auden Brekken and Nora Knoploh, 6-2, 6-2.
“Kennedy’s first serves were hitting very strongly and MariElla’s shot placement was providing a 1-2 punch for many of the points,” Slosarek said. “They are working incredibly well as a team and finding their groove.”
Overall, Slosarek was happy how her team performed.
“We had some really tight matches at No. 1 doubles, No. 2 singles, and No. 3 doubles,” she said. “We could have easily won the match, 5-2, instead of losing it, 2-5.
“We need to improve our ability to maintain consistency and momentum throughout sets and into third set super-tiebreakers. We are losing some considerable set leads and giving up easy points by letting off the gas or giving up easy errors.
“It will be our focus moving to build some strategies for carrying our leads through to the end.”
