Heights boys XC team 8th at River Valley Invite

The Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld boys cross country team finished in eighth place at the star-studded, 18-team River Valley Invite last Saturday. Senior Kirk Caminiti was third individually, finishing the 5,000-meter race in 17:38.0. Junior Travis Dreikosen was 26th (19:05.6), junior Noah Doescher was 50th (19:57.2), senior Trevor Owens was 59th (20:11.4) and sophomore Andrew Murray was 80th (21:20.7). The Vanguards’ girls were 13th out of 16 teams. Junior Izabel Durst was 33rd (23:24.0), junior Tirzah Caminiti was 47th (24:27.7), sophomore Eliza Gordon was 65th (25:59.1), freshman Natalie Wilson was 81st (28:34.8) and freshman Sofia Lang was 87th (29:05.5). • On deck: The Vanguards head to the Mount Horeb Invite Saturday at Norsk Golf Club at 8 a.m.
