Sauk Prairie Optimists hear about Meyer Oak Grove Market from Amanda Haselwander

On June 26th, Amanda Haselwander spoke to the Sauk Prairie Optimist Club at their noon meeting. Haselwander started the Meyer Oak Grove Market, often referred to as the Farmer’s Market, in the summer of 2021. Previously, Sue and Fritz Dohm had organized a market in downtown Prairie du Sac, but were ready to retire from that project. With much advice from Sue and Fritz, the market was relocated to the Meyer Oak Grove Park on Highway 12 in Sauk City. That first year, 16 vendors participated. In 2022, with the assistance of Katie Tredinnick, the market grew to 28 vendors, then 36 in 2023, and finally 47 vendors this year! In addition to produce, bakers, crafters, and non-profit groups can get space in the market. An informal survey of the vendors showed that there were approximately $16,000 of sales in a four-week period. This does not include the amount visitors spend at other businesses in the community. In 2023, a Winter Market was added to the mix. The Winter Market quickly outgrew its River Hills Church location and is now in the Sauk Prairie Community Center on the second Saturday of the month from January through April. The Meyer Oak Grove Market starts the Saturday of Memorial Day and runs through the second weekend of October. The Sauk Prairie Optimists meet at the 6:8 Inc. dining room on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 7 a.m. In addition, there are sometimes noon meetings. Visitors are always welcome!
