Sauk Prairie chapter celebrates National FFA Week with presentation to Optimists


Sauk Prairie FFA Officers and FFA advisor Jeremiah Ihm spoke with the Sauk Prairie Optimists on February 19 at the 6:8 dining room. Ihm spoke first stating that the Sauk Prairie FFA chapter began in 1916 and explaining the three pillars of FFA: Experiential, service or work-based learning; school based experience; and classroom/laboratory experience. Next, the officers took over explaining facets of the program. Sentinel Everett Larson explained their annual officer retreat where they plan the activities of the year which is held at a location away from school. The Jeff Hicken Green House project was described by Community Development Vice President Evelyn Sprecher who told of successes and challenges while President Thea Harpold shared the format of their chapter meetings and agendas. FFA test plot information was shared by Treasurer Lane Albers; Audrey Anding, Student Advisor, told about their attendance at the National Convention and learning experiences in which they participated. Ag Development Vice President Sophie Sonday recapped their participation at the State FFA Convention and Hailee Boetccher, Secretary, explained the various Supervised Agricultural Experiences in which members have participated. Logan Sorg, Reporter, explained the Diversified Livestock and Entrepreneurship Program. All the presentations were accompanied by a slide show presentation created by the officers and their advisors. This FFA presentation is an annual event with the Sauk Prairie Optimists to celebrate FFA Week.
