Next week heralds the arrival of the summer library program, Color Our World, for both youth and adults! Summer Reading Challenges for both groups begin on Monday, June 2. This summer’s reading will be tracked with paper logs, although the new ReadSquared App is available to record personal reading online. Library events begin next week with a special presentation by Zoozort, followed by nine weeks of fun and educational programs and events for all ages! Unless otherwise noted, programs are held in the Library’s Community Room and no registration is required.

Wildlife educators from the Zoozort organization will present the library’s kickoff program on Wednesday, June 10, at 2 p.m. at the Lion’s Building. This interactive show is appropriate for all ages and will feature a variety of animals including Wanda the Wallaby, Montgomery the Snake, and Jeremiah the Bullfrog.

Earlier in the day, the summer session of Babygarten begins in the library’s Community Room at 10 a.m. Babies 0 to 24 months and their grown-ups will meet weekly for books, songs, rhymes, baby signs and free play.

The first Discovery Days of the summer will be held on Thursday, June 12, at 2 p.m. This program is designed for children entering kindergarten through fifth grade, and has the goal of providing hands-on experiences in the areas of science, technology, nature, the arts and more. Sign up is required each week 24 hours in advance to ensure that enough materials are available. Fabric painting will be featured in the first session.

Beginning on Friday, June 13, a preschool storytime for youngsters ages 3 to 5, their caregivers and siblings, will be held at 10 a.m. Forty-five minutes of stories and crafts will be enjoyed each week.

Reedsburg Writers begins on Monday, June 16, at 10 a.m. All youth who are able to write independently are invited to compose and illustrate their own works. The group will compile their own collection and celebrate it at an end of the year Publication Party.

Time Travelers Club is a new program at RPL for children going into Grades 2 through 5. The group will meet each Tuesday at 2 p.m. starting on June 17. Each week students will travel to a different period in history, explore both fiction and nonfiction books, and complete a craft.

Wednesdays at 1 p.m., beginning with June 18, are set aside for Teen Time. Youth entering Grades 6 through 12 are invited for activities including crafts, a bike repair workshop, escape room and more. As in past years, a Teen Lock-In will be held at the end of the summer.

Finally, Loganville Little Library sessions will begin on Thursday, June 19, at 10 a.m. at the Loganville Village Hall. This outreach program is for children of all ages. Enjoy stories and crafts and pick up your reserved library materials at the same time!

As a reminder, the documentary film, “Building Lake Redstone,” will be shown on Saturday, June 7, at 11 a.m. in the library’s Community Room. If you have questions about any RPL program or service call the library at 608-768-READ (7323) or email info@reedsburglibrary.org.
