This coming week’s events at Reedsburg Public Library are almost too many to list! Be sure to visit the library’s calendar at www.reedsburg.librarycalendar.com for the full schedule. A number of special events, are listed below.
Adults have some fun options next week with Grown Up Fun Day on Monday, June 30, and Cookbook Club on Wednesday, July 2. Monday Fun Day, hosted by Assistant Library Director Caitlin Opatik at 2 p.m. on June 30, will feature the making of mosaic coasters. All materials will be provided for making this attractive and utilitarian craft. Cookbook Club participants will talk about the recipes of restaurateur Alice Waters of California’s Chez Panisse, at 6 p.m. on July 2, with local cook Heidi Feller.
Several cookbooks are available on display at the library. Registration is preferred for this program.
On Wednesday, July 2, Summer Outdoor Adventure Club leader and bike enthusiast, Gary Williams, will be the guest speaker at Teen Time at 2 p.m. Students entering grades six and up will learn basic bike repair. Participants may bring their own bikes to the library or work on bicycles provided. Registration is required for this event.
On Thursday, July 3, local actor and director Andy Matz will hold a theater workshop for the Discovery Days group at 2 p.m. in the library’s Community Room. Students entering Grades K through Five will learn the basics of acting in the theatre, including the skill of speaking clearly and projecting your voice.
Students will also learn and play several fun theatre games! Be sure to register for this program 24 hours in advance.
As a reminder, the library will be closed on Friday, July 4, and Saturday, July 5. However, the library can still be part of your Fourth of July festivities. Join library staff and volunteers at the future library location (1700 Land’s End Drive) to view the fireworks from a prime location! Parking lots will open at 4 p.m., with the cost for parking at $5 per car, with all proceeds to benefit library renovation and relocation. A separate “tailgate lot” will be available for $10 per car. The lots are a quick walk away from Nishan Park and the bands, food and other fun planned for Freedom Fest. You can also join us on the future library patio from 6 to 9 p.m. for music by local artist Erich Mobley, or set up your chair on the future library lawn to watch the fireworks show at dusk (around 9:15 p.m.). Please note, for safety, no fireworks are permitted in the lots or viewing areas.
