On Tuesday, July 8 at 2 p.m., the Time Travelers group (Grades 2 through 5) will be exploring dinosaurs! Remember to sign up online at least 24 hours in advance for this fun program! On Tuesday evening, it’s time once again for youth and their families to choose their racing worms at the Family Night Worm Races at 6:00 p.m. on the library’s back lawn. Worms will be provided and encouraged to race across a platform of concentric rings from the middle to the outside. Prizes will be presented to first, second and third place winners and their owners/coaches.
In keeping with the theme of the summer program, Color Our World, teens will do fabric painting at Teen Time at 1 on Wednesday, July 9, in the Community Room. T-shirts and fabric paint will be provided for the projects.
On Thursday, July 10, at 10 a.m. Loganville Little Library participants will do canvas painting at the Loganville Village Hall. All materials will be provided for students to make a painting of their own design and creation. Later in the day, Discovery Day kids (grades K through 5) will also do a canvas painting at 2 p.m. Please register for Discovery Days at least 24 hours in advance.
Grown Up Monday Fun Day on July 7 at 2 p.m. will feature card games of all kinds. On Tuesday, July 8, the library’s adult Memoir Writing Group will meet at 6 p.m. in the library’s Conference Room or via Zoom. Join us to share memoirs we have written based on prompts, or choose any memory to write about and share. Contact the library if you wish to join via Zoom.
On Wednesday, July 9, at 1 p.m. the Local History and Genealogy Group will meet at the Old Franklin Historical Society at 915 Wachter Avenue in Plain. The Old Franklin Historical Society was established in 2004 when the future of the Old Franklin Town Hall was being debated. A majority of the townspeople were in favor of preserving the building as a repository of area records and artifacts. Join us for a tour of the museum.
History lovers should also mark their calendars for Monday, July 14, when Sauk County Historical Society Executive Director Paul Wolter returns to the Reedsburg Public Library to present the program, All Bottled Up: A History of Brewing in Reedsburg. The program will be held at 6 p.m. in the library’s Community Room. No registration is required.
To keep up with Reedsburg history, remember to periodically check the Recollection Wisconsin website (www.recollectionwisconsin.org) where scanned historical collections from the Reedsburg Public Library are being added. The latest addition is the full text of the Souvenir Program and Centennial History of Reedsburg published in 1948.
