Buy a Subaru, help NW Dane Senior Services

For the 14th year running, the Meals on Wheels network is participating in the 2021 Subaru Share the Love Event. Over the past thirteen years, Subaru and its retailers have helped Meals on Wheels to deliver more than 2.5 million meals nationwide to seniors in need.

Sauk City Depot at the corner of Polk and Monroe Streets at the Homecoming in 1907. This is an excursion train of 7 coaches carrying about 500 people that came in from Madison.

It was first reported in the Mazomanie Sickle of October 16, 1880 that the business men of Sauk City had pledged $20,000 to the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railway Company to ensure the building of a rail line from Mazomanie through Sauk City to Portage.

John Stickney was the first railroad station agent in Mazomanie arriving in the spring of 1856 and staying for 41 years until his death. He also sold property for the railroad during the early years. The Wisconsin State Directory 1857-8 listed him as the railroad passenger agent and as a real estate agent.

Grand Avenue 4th graders complete read-a-thon

Luther Clark

Luther Clark was a businessman in Mazomanie twenty-two years from 1856 until he moved to Nebraska in 1878. He was the junior member of the firm Lincoln & Clark grain buyers. When grain farming declined, he moved west. A large grain elevator and warehouse valued at $750 were built in the Mazomanie railroad corridor in 1860.

Friends of the Lower Wisconsin looking for board members


The view of the Lower Wisconsin State Riverway from Ferry Bluff is amazing. Currently closed for the season due to eagle roosting/nesting, Ferry Bluff is an important roosting site for the birds.

The Friends of the Lower Wisconsin Riverway (FLOW) currently has three openings, possibly four, on their board, Don Golembiewski, interim FLOW president has announced. Timm Zumm, long-time president and one of the founders of FLOW, John Jensen and Dave Rozelle have left the board.
