The Black Earth Chamber planned to have a candidate forum for those running for office in Black Earth on April 2. It had to be cancelled. The chamber wrote to each candidate:

Sauk City proclaims ‘Bologna Day”

On March 10, the Sauk City Village Board had it’s regular meeting. The board voted to hire Kaitlin Nye as the Utility Billing Clerk. Nye will be stepping tin o fill the shoes of Janet Kraemer. Kraemer has been the Utility Billing Clerk for Sauk City for just shy of 30 years.

Prairie du Sac to buy pumper truck

The Prairie du Sac board met on March 10 for its regular meeting. Strand Associates presented bids for street improvement projects. There were seven bids received for the project. The low bid of $1,299,231 was from A-1 Excavating, Inc.

Sauk County Board declares emergency due to COVID-19 pandemic

The Sauk County Board has declared a countywide emergency in light of COVID-19.

Vermont resident asks Black Earth to consider solar power

David Stanfield, a resident of Vermont Township served by Black Earth’s electrical utility, asked the board to consider a solar power installation to supplement the power supply at the Black Earth Village Board meeting March 3rd.

Village of Mazomanie to get new cell tower

Late in the Village of Mazomanie meeting Tuesday, March 10th, Village President Gary Harrop said discussions at the next meeting would involve preparations for COVID-19. By Friday those plans became a reality.

Mazomanie kicks off Comprehensive Plan update with survey, meeting

On February 26 members of the Mazomanie community gathered at the Wisconsin Heights High School to listen to a presentation on Mazomanie’s Comprehensive Plan. Local units of government that want to regulate land use must adopt a comprehensive plan. Mazomanie’s Comprehensive Plan was created in 2009 and must be updated every 10 years.

Wisconsin Heights School Board member Isaiah Crowe resigned from the board in mid-January, citing the need to maintain a healthy work-life balance with a new position at his job and serving on the board. Bis letter read:

Esser is the new Black Earth village president

Black Earth Village Board trustee Troy Esser was named Village President at the January 7 meeting, replacing Pat Troge, who resigned in December. Esser was nominated by trustees James Coyle and Tom Parrell.

Prairie du Sac readies for future floods

Village of Prairie du Sac voted to enter an agreement with a contractor for emergency pumping services. Should the village experience a situation like March 2019, the contractor would respond with equipment within two hours of being contacted. The agreement would be for a three year term.
