New video documents Sauk Prairie’s nine buildings on the National Register

The Friends of Sauk City History premiered their new video on Sauk Prairie’s nine buildings on the National Register on Sunday, with a showing and then a reception afterwards in FreeThinker’s Hall. Connie Conkle introduced those involved with the making of the video.

As the Army’s progress on Badger cleanup inches along, citizen advisory group takes action

The Badger Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) met on Thursday, January 19, at River Arts, and Army officials updated the public on the progress of the cleanup of Badger Army Ammunition Plant.

Historical buildings film premiere

There will be a special film premiere of “Sauk Prairie’s 9 National Register Buildings.” The film was produced during 2022. This red-carpet event is hosted by the Friends of Sauk City History. It will be held on Sunday, January 22, at the Free Congregation of Sauk County, 307 Polk. Street, Saul City, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Sauk County gets transportation aid from State

Gov. Tony Evers has announced the most recent round of funding for rural transit services.

Through the DOT, he revealed that 44 agencies will receive money to provide transportation services for seniors and the disabled. Overall, funding will total more than $5 million this year.

Bald Eagle Watching Days a success

Spongy Moth population grows in Wisconsin

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) caught 202,300 spongy moths (formerly named gypsy moth) in 10,044 traps over the summer as part of the federal Slow the Spread of the Spongy Moth Program.

Despite being uncompetitive, race for state Senate district draws near record amount of campaign funds

The race for the 27th State Senate District, which includes the Star News coverage area, saw more than $217,000 in campaign funds raised, the second-highest total in history.
