After nearly three years in the making, Miramont Behavioral Health facility has opened.

The 72-bed facility broke ground in August of 2018 and held a ribbon cutting and public tours on July 1.

Jackie Johnson-Kruse and her husband Joel Kruse have been searching the Wisconsin River going on four weeks for the body of their son Parker.

The Arena Village Board accepted the Arena Fire and EMS’s request to purchase a used truck, to cost up to $250,000, at their monthly board meeting last Tuesday. The purchase is expected to be completed by 2023.

Groundwater is the principal water supply for Sauk County municipalities, industries, and rural residents. While municipal water supplies are regularly monitored and required to meet drinking water standards, private well owners must make decisions regarding when and what to test for and what to do if there is a problem.

The search for Parker Kruse, who drowned in the Wisconsin River on July 3 after going to the aid of a boater in trouble, continues. The accident happened near the Wisconsin Riverside Resort in Spring Green, where rescue then search efforts initially focused.

The Village of Black Earth will be celebrating Community Park Field Days on Saturday, Aug 14, from 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., in Community Park. The events include:

A former resident of Maplewood Nursing Home Sauk Prairie received six years in prison after pleading guilty to 3rd degree sexual assault. Galen Malisch, 63, formerly of Sauk City, said when questioned by police, that he did “touch” the resident.

COVID-19, especially the Delta variant, is still spreading in communities across Wisconsin, warned Department of Health Services (DHS) Julie Willems Van Dijk at a joint press conference with Dr. Ryan Westergaard, Chief Medical Officer, DHS Bureau of Communicable Diseases July 9.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office continues to search rural Dane County and ask for tips regarding Krista Halderson, 53, who was reported missing on July 7 along with her husband, Bart, 50.

A vigil for Parker Kruse was held last Wednesday night at Wisconsin Riverside Resort as the search continues. Kruse lost his life on the Wisconsin River over the 4^th of July weekend while helping in a rescue of another boater.
