In last week’s Star News, there was an article about the Village of Black Earth’s March Board Meeting that included details about resident Dennis Wood asking about a potential community center that could host weddings and formals. By a 12-point margin, Wisconsin Heights residents approved the four-year, $3.2 million-dollar operating referendum on Tuesday. The vote totals show villages and townships splitting into two groups: those that split on their support of the referendum around 50/50, and those that supported it by a 60 to 40 total.

Wick Buildings and the Village of Mazomanie reached a historic milestone at their board meeting on March 12, with a $1 land sale that will lead to the company constructing its future headquarters and production facility in the village, as well as adding millions to local tax roll.

The Sauk Prairie School District community is reeling after the death of a student in a car accident with multiple fatalities Sunday. Superintendent Jeff Wright confirmed at Monday’s school board meeting that one of the victims was a student, and that others who died in the crash were tied to the community.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office will finally start using body worn cameras, expecting to roll out a pilot program in a few months here from its West Precinct station.
