Obituaries

Prairie du Sac--Laura Lee (Patton) Nolden, 68, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025 at her home surrounded by her husband, 4 daughters, and 9 grandkids. She was able to stay at home thanks to Agrace Home Care and their wonderful healthcare team.

Eugene Kenneth (Gino) Mowitz, passed away peacefully at home on February 20, 2025, at the age of 92.

Mazomanie--Donald L. “Duck” Lawler, 88, a life-long resident of Mazomanie, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025 after a brief illness. He was surrounded by family and friends throughout his final days.  Don was born at the Lawler home in Mazomanie on October 15, 1936 to Verne and Gladys (Heald) Lawler.

Sauk Prairie--On December 13, 1963, in her home town of Perham, MN, there was great joy when Lenore Janette Silbernagel was born to Norb and Marlene (Rickers) Silbernagel. At home, waiting to welcome their early Christmas gift was sister, Lynette and brother, Tom.

Prairie du Sac--Harold Rueben Klepper, age 85, of Prairie du Sac passed away at his home on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025. He was born Apr. 21, 1939 in Iowa to the late Theodore and Mabel (Brainerd) Klepper. At a young age his family made the move to Prairie du Sac where Harold attended high school. Upon his graduation he enlisted in the U.S.

Waunakee--John, age 92, passed away peacefully at Milestone Senior Living in Stoughton, WI. He was born to the late George and Lillian (Bandow) Oakeson and grew up on a small farm outside of Marinette, WI. He joined the Marine Corps in 1951 and served his country in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1952 with a rank of Corporal.

Black Earth--Ronald C. Howard, age 78, of Black Earth, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Sauk Prairie Hospital. He was born on December 14, 1946, in Madison, Wis., the son of Clinton and Bernetta (Higgins) Howard.

Mazomanie--Alfredo Chapa “Al” Peña, age 89, of Mazomanie, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday, February 3, 2025. He was born on May 30, 1935, in Mercedes, Texas, the son of the late Pedro and Margarita (Chapa) Peña.

Merrimac--Lori Lee Schultz, age 64, passed away, with family by her side, on February 1, 2025, at Sauk Prairie Healthcare in Prairie Du Sac.

A Celebration of Life is being held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Merrimac Fire & Rescue Department, in Merrimac. Inurnment will be private.

Dr. Matthew Grade, age 71, passed away on Feb. 2 at UW Hospital. 

Matthew was born to John and Shirley Grade. As a child, Matthew identified an important piece of his life’s purpose: working as a family physician, as his father had before him.
