A very grateful and GRAND “thank you” goes out to all of those helpful community members who made our recent Sauk Prairie Pioneer Day trip a great experience for our fourth grade students and families.

Our friends recently gave us a pool. 

“You can have it for free!” they said. 

I didn’t realize it at the time, but a free above-ground pool is like a free space shuttle from IKEA. There are going to be some hidden monetary costs, and a psychological toll as well.

I remember the 1990s as a normal time. It was, for lack of a better term, my time. The era in which I discovered the world and began to question all there was to see and hear. In hindsight, however, I’m starting to wonder if it was actually a surreal thought experiment. For example, every hit song on the radio was simply a list.

Being on the cover of Forbes magazine is a horrendous life goal. The only way to get there is to have a lot of money and having a lot of money is the easiest way to be miserable, vapid and depressed. Yet Forbes is name dropped in pop songs all the time as a vital waypoint of success.
