The young adult novel “Firekeeper’s Daughter” by Angeline Boulley generated lots of buzz after its publication in 2021.  Recently I’ve heard so much praise from adults that it’s clearly found an audience with them as well.

“The Year of Living Danishly” was written by Helen Russell, who was curious about the claim that the happiest people live in Denmark.  Although a non-fiction work, the author’s layout and style makes it seem more like an easy-to-read novel.

A newborn baby girl was abandoned in a cardboard egg box, in deep snow, in -20 Celsius weather outside Novosibirsk two weeks ago. Her life was saved by five teenage boys who spotted the box and picked her up as they walked on the evening of January 7.

It was Orthodox Christmas Day.
