Dear Editor,

If they want to go after the “wealthy” there are a thousand ways to structure the tax code to do it. Their goal is to go after working people, freelancers, and very small businesses. They will not settle for anything less than complete and total surveillance.

A common literary theme is that of the everyman, a universal idea found in most cultures.  These individuals work hard, lead simple lives and crave a sense of enjoyment and belonging.  They’re usually put in unusual situations and do their best to survive.

Worth the Wait?

 

A previous Book Nook article featured Helene Wecker’s imaginative debut novel “The Golem and the Jinni”, which told the story of two mythical creatures against the backdrop of New York City in 1899.  Eight years later we have her sequel: “The Hidden Palace”.

The first meat our daughter ever ate was turkey. It was Thanksgiving, and I gave her a few tiny pieces, along with a dollop of sweet potato. There is something slightly epic about watching someone gnaw on food for the very first time. 

I told her the thing she was enjoying was called “turkey,” which it turns out is slightly incorrect.

Another successful Sauk Prairie Community Club Cow Chip Classic 5 & 10K Run/Walk was held on Saturday, September 4th in conjunction with the Cow Chip Festival. Proceeds from the run are given back to the community for local programs and kids in the Sauk Prairie area.
