Wisconsin’s public school open enrollment program allows parents to apply for their children to attend a school district other than the one in which they live. The Department of Public Instruction recently announced that the full-time open enrollment regular application period begins February 5th and runs through April 30, 2024.

Sauk Prairie School District’s Bridges Outdoor Learning Environment (OLE) is a wonderful space for students to take learning outdoors and even get their hands dirty learning about nature. The magic of the OLE was started by Cheryl Sprecher and others when the school was first built.

The Wisconsin Heights Superintendent search all but wrapped up as board president Barb Statz confirmed on Monday, “We have an accepted offer from Michelle McGrath to become our next superintendent.” McGrath brings 27 years of educational experience to the job.

A rare public instance of public frustration and discontent with the board over recent departures at the administrative level of the district came about at the Wisconsin Heights school board meeting on January 8^th.

Mrs. Statz’s 4th hour Intro to Culinary classes made gingerbread houses the week before break at Wisconsin Heights High School.

At Wisconsin Heights, 7th grade math class did a holiday themed breakout box to break out of their unit on inequalities. The breakout box problems were written to the poem of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, except there were problems such as mice taking over the house and Santa’s sleigh breaking down.

The December Above The Line theme was “Responsibility.” The students pictured received awards on Friday, December 15th, from their classroom teacher or staff member who felt that they are an individual that is responsible. Congratulations to these students.

Along with Sauk City and Prairie du Sac, the Sauk Prairie School Board also passed a resolution naming December 31^st Cliff Thompson Day. Here is a photo of Superintendent Jeff Wright presenting a plaque with the resolution to Cliff Thompson.

The race for the Wisconsin Heights Superintendent position has come down to four finalists from a “deep slate of qualified candidates,” according to the District. The four finalists are vying for position most recently vacated by Jordan Sinz, and currently occupied by interim Superintendent Craig Gerlach.
