Eagles fall in sectional finals

A week before the season began, they still didn’t have a head coach.

There were a bevy of standouts to replace, newcomers that were unproven and far more questions than answers.

Sauk Prairie’s girls swimming and diving team finished in third place at the seven-team Platteville Invitational last Saturday.

Monroe/New Glarus won the invite with 559 points, while Lodi’s co-op (375), Sauk Prairie (337), La Crosse Central/Logan (296) and Edgerton/Evansville (278) rounded out the top five.

Alive and kicking!

The Eagles defeated Reedsburg, 8-0, in a regional semifinal on Oct. 17 and toppled Tomah, 2-0, in a regional final on Oct. 21.

End of the road

Wisconsin Heights spikers toppled in playoff opener

There were moments they shined.

There were flashes of excellence.

Unfortunately for Wisconsin Heights’ girls volleyball team, there weren’t enough of them.

Football Vanguards exit in style

Their year had just ended.

And already, Wisconsin Heights football coach Connor Herrling couldn’t wait for the 2024 campaign to arrive.

“Speed, talent, and the mindset of not stopping,” Herrling said of what he expects next season. “I can’t wait to see what next year will bring, I’m excited and I know the guys are.”

Next stop: state

DEFOREST — While one streak was broken, an even longer one is poised to fall for Sauk Prairie’s girls cross country team, possibly as soon as next season.

The Eagles placed fourth out of 12 teams at the WIAA Division 1 DeForest Sectional held at the Don Batty Cross Country Course last Saturday morning.

Two steps from state

They have been on a mission all season.

Last Saturday evening, Sauk Prairie’s girls volleyball team moved one step closer to its goal of a return trip to the WIAA Division 2 state tournament.

Heights boys XC team 7th at conference

The Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld boys cross country team finished in seventh place at the 11-team Capitol Conference meet last Saturday.

Lakeside Lutheran won the conference title with 40 points, while the Vanguards finished with 172 points.

Heights spikers set for the second season

If timing is indeed everything, that could be good news for Wisconsin Heights’ girls volleyball team.

The Vanguards began the postseason this week playing some of their better volleyball of the season. Heights is now hoping that translates into playoff success.
