Softball Eagles set for playoffs

The road will be challenging — to put it mildly.

But Sauk Prairie’s girls softball team hopes to be one of the surprise outfits this postseason.

Sauk Prairie’s track and field teams competes at the Wisconsin Dells Invite on May 12.

Here were the Eagles’ top finishers:

 

BOYS

• Jack Boerger won the 1,600-meter dash and Jay Dregney was sixth. Boerger also won the 3,200, while John Dietmann was seventh.

Golfers sixth at mini-meet

Sauk Prairie’s boys golf team finished sixth in their final Badger West Conference mini-meet of the season held at Baraboo Country Club on May 9.

The Eagles shot a 372, which was substantially higher than their season average. Madison Edgewood won the meet with a 301, while Mount Horeb (331) and Oregon (332) rounded out the top three.

Softball Vanguards win two of three


Izzy Sutherland and Wisconsin Heights’ softball team won two of three games last week.

The postseason has arrived for Wisconsin Heights’ girls softball team.

And the Vanguards have picked the perfect time to be playing their best softball of the year.

Heights won two of three games last week and now heads to the playoffs on a high note.

The Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld track and field teams competed at the Belleville Invite last Friday.

The Vanguards’ girls were sixth out of 12 teams, while the boys were 11th.

The postseason seeding is just around the corner for girls soccer teams across the state.

And Sauk Prairie’s terrific side certainly helped its playoff positioning last week.

Wisconsin Heights’ baseball team split a pair of games with Marshall last week.

The Vanguards dropped an 8-1 decision on May 9. Heights then rebounded and toppled the Cardinals, 8-7, last Friday.

The postseason is just around the corner.

And Sauk Prairie’s girls softball team hopes to discover a winning formula before regionals start on May 18.

The Eagles took a small step in that direction last week, defeating Reedsburg, 6-3, on May 1. But Sauk Prairie lost its final three games of the week.
