Nehring vaults her way to state

MOUNT HOREB — Disappointment. Frustration. Confusion.

Those are some of the feelings Sara Nehring experienced this winter during her “journey” — her word to describe it — on the vault.

Another meet. Another unsatisfactory score. Why weren’t things clicking?

Heights boys receive No. 10 seed

Wisconsin Heights’ boys basketball team is slumping as it heads to the postseason.

The Vanguards dropped all three games they played last week and have now lost nine of 10.

Wisconsin Heights (8-15) also found out Sunday that it received the No. 10 seed in its half of its WIAA Division 4 sectional.

Bring on the second season


Sauk Prairie’s girls basketball team played DeForest at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee on Feb. 16.

The regular season is in the rearview mirror.

Now, Sauk Prairie’s girls basketball team hopes to make the second season one to remember.

The Eagles dropped two of their final three regular season games last week.

Co-op hockey team ousted by Edgewood

Sauk Prairie’s co-op hockey team — which includes skaters from Mount Horeb, River Valley, Wisconsin Heights and Riverdale — upset Sun Prairie, 3-1, in a regional semifinal on Feb. 13.

But the Eagles’ season ended with an 8-1 loss to Madison Edgewood in a regional final on Feb. 16.

Sauk/Heights swimmers 10th at state

WAUKESHA — The Sauk Prairie/Wisconsin Heights boys swimmers finished in 10th place at the WIAA Division 2 state meet held at Waukesha South High School last Friday.

End of the road for wrestlers

The road to the WIAA Division 1 individual state wrestling tournament made a stop in West Salem last Saturday.

Unfortunately for six Sauk Prairie/Wisconsin Heights boys’ and two girls’ wrestlers, it was the end of the road.

Swinging for the state meet

Sauk Prairie’s girls gymnastics team has never been to the state meet.

And the Eagles have a tough path this year, as they’ve been placed in one of the state’s toughest sectionals.

Vosburg’s big night lifts Vanguards past Monticello

Wisconsin Heights’ boys basketball team split a pair of games last week.

New Glarus downed the Vanguards, 67-41, on Feb. 8. Heights then bounced back with a 54-50 win at Monticello last Saturday.

Heights is now 8-12 on the season and 0-6 in the Capitol Conference.

Heights girls given No. 12 seed

Their path will be treacherous and hazardous.

And unless they can spring a series of upsets, their journey could also be short.
