Tough schedule, tough team

That’s been Sauk Prairie’s girls soccer coach Drew Kornish’s philosophy for years now. And last week, the Eagles faced their most daunting stretch of the regular season.

Double trouble

Golfers 9th at Reedsburg Invitational

The April weather wreaked havoc on teams across the area last week.

Sauk Prairie’s boys golf team was no different.

First, the Eagles had their Badger Conference mini-meet at Monroe on April 18 postponed.

Eagles’ track teams shining

Despite competing in weather conditions that were all over the map last week, Sauk Prairie’s boys track and field team recorded second-place finishes at both the Portage quadrangular on April 18 at its own Eagle Relays last Friday evening.

Onward, upward

Softball Vanguards drop four out of five games

Wisconsin Heights’ girls softball team had a rough week, dropping four of five games.

Here’s a recap of the Vanguards’ week:

• Marshall 12, Wisconsin Heights 0 — The Cardinals had 11 hits and Heights had five errors, helping Marshall roll to a win on April 11.

It was a rough week for Wisconsin Heights’ baseball team.

The Vanguards dropped a 6-1 decision to Fennimore on April 10 and a 13-8 game to Westfield on April 11. Heights then fell to New Glarus, 5-0, on April 13.

Eagles’ softball team drops three games

Sauk Prairie’s girls softball team dropped three straight games last week.

DeForest defeated the Eagles, 16-0, on April 11. Beaver Dam topped Sauk Prairie, 12-0, on April 13 and McFarland downed the Eagles, 11-5, on April 14.

Eagles’ tennis team falls to Watertown

Sauk Prairie’s boys tennis team dropped its season opener, 6-1, at Watertown on April 11.

Eagles’ senior Clayton Dahlby defeated Watertown’s Christian Zastrow, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 2 singles to notch Sauk Prairie’s lone win.

Eagles’ track team compete at Badger Challenge


Sauk Prairie’s 400-meter relay team of (from left) Mackenzie White, Lexi Been, Olivia Schultz and MariElla Viola finished first at the Badger Challenge.

Sauk Prairie’s girls track team finished fourth at the 13-team Badger Challenge on April 11.

Waunakee won the girls’ title with 136 points, while DeForest (117), Mount Horeb (81), Sauk Prairie (58.5) and Stoughton (53.5) rounded out the top five.
