Sauk Prairie’s tennis team edged by DeForest

Sauk Prairie’s doubles teams were outstanding in their dual meet against DeForest on May 21.

But the Eagles couldn’t manage a singles win.

The result was a 4-3 win for the Norskies.

In doubles action, Sauk Prairie’s No. 1 team of Zach Guentherman and Jordan Chao defeated Dominic Caracci and Nolan McCann, 6-4, 1-6, 6-0.

Amazingly, the postseason is already here. 

And Sauk Prairie’s boys golfers are trending upward at the perfect time.

Track teams win Sauk Prairie Relays

Now, that’s how you open a new facility.

Sauk Prairie’s track and field teams both finished first at the Sauk Prairie Relays last Friday. The meet was held at the school’s recently completed stadium track.

Vanguards’ ‘Great 8’ honored

The Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld boys soccer team had eight players earn all-Capitol South Conference honors.

Senior forward Gavin Childs was recognized as the Capitol Conference’s Player of the Year. Senior midfielder Caeben Schomber and senior defenders Brodie Trollop and Aidan Olson were also named first-team all-league.

Sauk Prairie’s golfers making strides

Sauk Prairie’s boys golfers defeated Portage in a dual meet, 206-212, on May 14.

James Dietmann led the Eagles with a 49 at Lake Wisconsin Country Club. Brandt Wilson shot a 50, Isaac Homar carded a 53 and Kyle Been had a 54.

The Eagles also fell to Reedsburg, 176-202, on May 12 at Lake Wisconsin.

Heights soccer is rolling

The Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld girls soccer team has raced to a 3-0-1 start.

The Vanguards and Columbus played to a scoreless tie on May 4 at Breese Stevens Field. That was the season-opener for Heights/Barneveld.

On May 7, the Vanguards toppled Dodgeville, 3-1. Heights/Barneveld then rolled past River Valley, 11-1, on May 8.

Sauk Prairie Twins ready for big things

The Sauk Prairie Twins have their eye set on the Home Talent League championship after coming up a game short in 2019 and a cancelled season in 2020. The Twins return the majority of their players from that successful 2019 season and look to capitalize on that experience.  

Heights football ends #1

There was no postseason for the alternate-fall football season. But Wissports.net did release a final poll in which Wisconsin Heights was ranked No. 1.

It was a busy start to last weekend with Sauk Prairie’s baseball team scheduled to play three games in a span of less than 24 hours.

Net gains

Sauk Prairie’s boys tennis won two of three meets last week and improved to 2-3 in dual matches this season.
